Analysis and Design of Concatenated Codes

چکیده
A new general concatenated code structure, containing both parallel and serially concatenated codes as special cases, is presented. The structure provides a unified framework for the analysis of concatenated codes and offers new degrees of freedom for code design. Performance analysis based on bounds on the error probability in the error floor region and suggestions for suitable design criteria are provided, together with a design approach for the waterfall region. In contrast to parallel concatenated codes and traditional serially concatenated codes, the proposed structure allows for constructing very high-rate codes with no penalty in the error floor region and good performance in the waterfall region.

Convergence Analysis of a New Class of Flexible Hybrid Concatenated Codes
This paper focuses on a new class of flexible hybrid concatenated codes which are able to achieve any desired bit error rate performance between that of a parallel and serial concatenated convolutional code. The main contribution of this paper is a convergence analysis of the decoder, which is facilitated by an alternative representation of the code structure and an extrinsic information (EXIT)...
متن کاملSerial Concatenated Convolutional Codes Design and Analysis
Serial Concatenated Convolutional Codes (SCCC) also named Turbo Codes, obtained with different constituent trellis codes are presented with a simple and quick mode of data interleaving. A SCC code has higher error-correction performances than the constituent codes. Optimal convolutional codes are deduced for SCCC. A comparison of the SCCC performances is made using weight enumerating functions.
متن کاملAnalysis, Design, and Iterative Decoding of Double Serially Concatenated Codes with Interleavers
A double serially concatenated code with two interleaves consists of the cascade of an outer encoder, an interleaver permuting the outer codeword bits, a middle encoder, another interleaver permuting the middle codeword bits and an inner encoder whose input words are the permuted middle codewords. The construction can be generalized to h cascaded encoders separated by h – 1 interleavers, where ...
متن کاملDesign of “Multiple–Turbo–Codes” with Transfer Characteristics of Component Codes
For the construction of low rate turbo– codes, the concept of multiple parallel concatenated codes, i.e. the “multiple–turbo–code” has been successfully employed e.g. in [13, 16]. Analysis of this structure has been done via simulations [16] or the analysis of equivalent coding schemes [13]. In this paper we extend the method of EXIT charts [5], that has been applied to multiple–turbo–codes con...
